The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) will start registering learners for the 2025 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) exams next week.
The registration process will begin on Monday, January 27, 2025. It will last one month and end on February 28, 2025.

KNEC CEO David Njengere shared this update on Saturday. He explained the requirements for candidates and their schools.
He further, emphasized that the registration portal will close on February 28, 2025. After this, no late registration will be allowed. Parents, schools, and learners must stick to the deadline.
Grade 6 KPSEA learners will use the KPSEA registration portal to sign up. Even so, only eligible candidates from approved assessment centers can register.
Schools are warned not to register fake candidates, as this could lead to their de-registration as assessment centers.
Schools must also carefully check each learner’s biodata. This includes ensuring names, gender, birth year, and citizenship match the details on their birth certificates.
Assessment Number
Students who don’t yet have an Assessment Number must first register in the Grade 6 portal to get the number.
This number is necessary for KPSEA registration. Once the Assessment Number is issued, school heads can therefore, proceed with registering candidates.
School heads must also complete all online candidate transfers before the February deadline. Transfers will not be allowed after this date.
Additionally, schools need to upload School-Based Assessment (SBA) scores for Grades 4 and 5 for all learners registered for KPSEA.
The government will pay the Ksh. 750 assessment fees for both public and private school learners, except for non-citizen students. Foreign students must pay their fees through the e-Citizen portal.
Schools with fewer than five learners cannot register as independent centers. These schools must work with their Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDEs) to identify approved centers.
However, for centers with fewer than 30 candidates, learners will be hosted at other designated centers identified by the SCDEs, following KNEC guidelines.
This clear process ensures smooth registration for all candidates.
