Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has criticized President William Ruto for allegedly mistreating Public Service CS Justin Muturi.
Gachagua accused President Ruto of targeting Muturi after his defiance against his regime and the Kenya Kwanza administration.

In a TikTok live session on Thursday, Gachagua spoke about growing dissatisfaction with Ruto’s leadership. He blamed unpopular policies and what he called “betrayal” of the mountain region.
He mentioned an incident that occured during the burial of Eric Mutugi, son of former Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti.
Mourners shouted when Muturi prepared to read Ruto’s condolence message. Gachagua claimed Ruto sent harsh messages to Muturi after the incident.
“It’s wrong to harass Muturi,” Gachagua said. “They accuse him of organizing the rejection, but that’s false. It’s the people of the mountain who feel betrayed.”
Don’t trust him
Muturi has also made headlines recently for questioning the government’s handling of abductions. This has led to criticism from Ruto’s allies, with some demanding his resignation.
Gachagua warned the Western region not to trust Ruto’s tactics. “He deceived us during the campaign. Now he doesn’t come here because we know the truth,” he said.
The former DP also discussed recent meetings at his Wamunyoro home. He said he is gathering opinions to decide his next steps.
“These meetings are not endorsements,” he clarified. “I’m consulting widely. I want people to decide for themselves. My doors are open to everyone.”
