Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Justin Muturi could be removed from office at any moment, starting today.
This bold claim comes from Belgut Member of Parliament (MP) Nelson Koech, who insists that Muturi has brought this upon himself by openly criticizing the government.
According to Koech, Muturi’s vocal disapproval—especially regarding cases of abductions and extrajudicial killings—has directly challenged his boss, President William Ruto, setting the stage for his imminent dismissal.
Speaking during Citizen TV’s Daybreak show, Koech did not hold back. He accused Muturi of deliberately provoking the president, suggesting that his outspoken stance is nothing short of an open challenge to Ruto’s authority.
Do not test the president
“I understand the political landscape, and I know what is happening behind the scenes. Muturi is testing the president, daring him to take action. He has practically invited his own sacking. Just wait and see—within a week or two, he will be out of office. In fact, it could even happen today,” Koech stated confidently.
Muturi, who previously served as Attorney General, has not shied away from addressing what he sees as a growing crisis.
He has been vocal about his concerns over the recent wave of abductions, particularly those targeting young Kenyans.
Despite mounting pressure, he has dismissed any threats of being removed from the Cabinet and has stood firm in his position.
On Friday, Muturi visited City Mortuary, where the bodies of two of four young men abducted in Mlolongo were discovered.
While addressing the press, he did not mince his words. Expressing outrage over the ongoing disappearances and murders, he demanded urgent government intervention.
“This is a horrific crime. We cannot turn a blind eye to these brutal murders. At this point, the nation must pause and focus on addressing the crisis of abductions and extrajudicial killings,” Muturi declared, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation.
Picking of sides
However, his remarks have stirred a political storm. Several allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have stepped forward to criticize UDA MPs, including Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, for demanding Muturi’s resignation.
The controversy surrounding Muturi’s comments has not gone unnoticed. Some government insiders believe he is using the issue to gain political mileage.
Koech, echoing this sentiment, accused him of grandstanding rather than resigning honorably.
“If he had any integrity, he would have stepped down instead of working against the very government he serves. He is playing politics with this issue, and that is unacceptable,” Koech asserted.
As tensions rise, the political landscape remains uncertain. Will President Ruto take decisive action against Muturi?
Or will the CS continue to stand his ground despite mounting pressure? The coming days will determine the fate of one of the most outspoken figures in the Cabinet.
