Ruto apologizes to Uganda, Tanzania and Kenyan youth.

President William Ruto, on Wednesday, openly apologized to Kenya’s neighbors, Uganda and Tanzania and also Kenyan youth.

He acknowledging that any past misunderstandings between Kenya and its neighbors may have hurt their long-standing relationships.

Speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast held at Safari Park Hotel, the President humbly addressed the region, saying Kenya is ready to turn a new page and rebuild stronger ties with its East African partners.

During his heartfelt speech, President Ruto expressed deep regret for any actions or words from Kenyans that may have strained relations with Uganda or Tanzania.

He said,

To our neighbors from Tanzania, if we have done anything wrong, we ask for forgiveness. To our brothers and sisters in Uganda, if we have acted in any way that caused harm, we sincerely apologize.”

His message carried a tone of reconciliation and sincerity, showing his desire to restore harmony in the region.

The Kenyan youth

In addition, President Ruto took time to apologize to the youth of Kenya, especially after the widespread discontent in 2024 that followed protests against high taxes and weak leadership.

These protests, which turned tragic after several young people were killed by security forces, sparked national outrage and left a lingering rift between the government and the younger generation.

He said,

“To our children, if we have made mistakes, we are sorry. We want to rebuild trust and work together to make Kenya a better place for all.

Furthermore, Ruto urged all Kenyans to embrace a new attitude—one focused less on blame and more on forgiveness and progress.

He encouraged citizens to build bridges instead of creating divisions, emphasizing that the country’s strength lies in its unity.

“Let us do less of finding fault and more of building the future,” he said, adding, “I believe Kenya has a bright future, and no matter what, we are heading toward better days.”

Deportation of Kenyan activists

The Kenyan activists had traveled to observe a court case involving Tanzanian opposition leader Tundu Lissu.

The move sparked anger on both sides, especially online, where users from both countries clashed in heated debates about regional politics and activism.

Lawmakers also got involved, throwing accusations at one another, and further straining diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Shift in tone and strategy

Meanwhile, the Kenya Kwanza government has been under fire for what critics call poor leadership, corruption, and heavy taxation.

Many Kenyans have voiced their frustrations about rising living costs and unfulfilled promises by the leaders.

Still, the President’s recent speech signals a possible shift in tone and strategy—one that leans toward reconciliation, accountability, and hope for national healing.

In summary, President Ruto’s apology marks a significant step toward healing not only broken international ties but also damaged relationships within Kenya.

It shows a willingness to admit mistakes and move forward with unity, humility, and a shared vision for a better tomorrow.
