President Ruto in Uganda for Africa Union Summit

President William Ruto traveled to Uganda on Saturday morning, January 11, to attend the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the Post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).

The summit focuses on eliminating hunger and poverty in Africa through agriculture-driven policies, according to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed.

During his one-day visit, President Ruto will highlight Kenya’s efforts to improve food security and fight poverty. He will also showcase initiatives that create jobs and promote sustainable economic growth.

Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

In addition, the President will emphasize how the summit’s agenda supports Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

This strategy aims to boost Kenya’s prosperity through economic reforms. He will also connect these efforts with Vision 2030, Kenya’s long-term development blueprint.

The summit will review progress on previous goals and aim to adopt the Kampala Declaration. This declaration will set a shared vision for transforming Africa’s food systems between 2026 and 2035.

These outcomes are expected to shape agricultural policies that enhance food security and drive economic growth across the continent.

Moreover, President Ruto will meet Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and other leaders. They will discuss ways to strengthen relations and seek support for Ruto’s role in leading African Union Institutional Reforms.
