A middle-aged man is on the run after allegedly killing his nine-month-old daughter on Wednesday night at Ikanga Market in Mutomo sub-county, Kitui County.

According to Ikanga Location Chief Onesmus Mutaula, the man had a heated argument with his wife before turning his anger on their child.

In a horrifying act, he strangled the baby, then used a kitchen knife to slit her throat. After that, he dumped her tiny body into a pit latrine and fled the scene.

As soon as the crime was discovered, officers at Ikanga Police Station began investigations. They are working hard to gather evidence and track down the suspect.

Meanwhile, the infant’s body has been taken to the Mutomo Level Four Hospital morgue, where it awaits further examination.

Authorities are now asking the public for help. They are urging anyone who knows the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward and report to the nearest police station.
