Man sets up fake police patrol base in Uasin Gishu

Police in Uasin Gishu have launched an investigation after discovering that a man illegally set up a police patrol base in Cherus Centre, Kesses Sub-County.

He did this discreetly, without informing or getting approval from the National Police Service (NPS).

According to reports, the suspect, Collins Leitich, also known as Chepkulei, lives in Asis Village, Ndugulu location.

He took it upon himself to create a police patrol base inside a building. To make it look official, he painted the structure in police colors, giving the impression that it was a real security post.

Local authorities were the first to notice the unauthorized base. As soon as they made the discovery, they launched an investigation.

No one knew it was fake

Officers from Kamuyu Police Post, which operates under Kondoo Police Station, were alerted. They recorded the incident under OB04/08/03/2025.

Residents were shocked when they learned the truth. Many had believed the patrol base was an official initiative to improve security in their area.

One local shared their surprise, saying, “We never suspected it was fake. We all thought it was a real police post.”

At this point, authorities are still trying to understand why the suspect set up the illegal patrol base. His true intentions remain unclear.

Meanwhile, police have assured the public that they will take the necessary action. They also promised to continue their investigation to prevent similar incidents in the future.
