Major section of Thika superhighway to close at Juja

Starting Saturday, February 15, 2025, a significant section of Thika Superhighway will temporarily close to facilitate the construction of a new footbridge.

The closure will last until Tuesday, February 18, 2025, affecting the highway between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. each night.

Affected Area and Reason for Closure

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced that the closure will take place at Juja Highpoint (Centurion). The footbridge installation aims to enhance pedestrian safety and improve traffic flow along the busy highway.

Traffic Diversions and Alternative Routes

To minimize disruptions, KeNHA has already put diversions in place ahead of the scheduled closure.

  • For Nairobi-bound vehicles: Motorists must use the designated diversion behind Lexo Petrol Station before safely rejoining the superhighway.
  • For Thika-bound vehicles: Drivers will be required to take the alternative route behind Centurion Hotel before merging back onto the highway.

Public Advisory and Safety Measures

As part of its commitment to ensuring smooth traffic management, KeNHA has urged all motorists to exercise caution and adhere strictly to the proposed traffic management plan. The authority reassures the public that these measures are necessary to complete the construction swiftly and efficiently.
