As the African Union Commission (AUC) elections reach the final stretch, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign & Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is heading to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
From February 12-17, 2025, he will lead last-minute campaigns to support Raila Odinga’s bid for the Chairperson position.

If Raila wins, Kenya will gain a stronger voice in Africa’s decision-making process. His leadership will amplify the continent’s influence and boost Kenya’s position on the African stage.
As Chairperson, Raila plans to focus on key areas. He aims to close the infrastructure gap, strengthen economic ties, and accelerate trade through the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA).
Additionally, he will push for financial independence, agricultural transformation, climate action, security, youth empowerment, and gender equality.
Mudavadi’s visit
During his visit, Mudavadi will attend the African Union’s 46th Executive Council Session on February 12-14, 2025. This meeting, which brings together AU Foreign Ministers, will determine the new AUC commissioners.
The Executive Council session will set the stage for the 38th Assembly of Heads of State and Government. This AU Summit, themed “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations,” will also feature President William Ruto.
Beyond the election, Mudavadi will participate in several high-level meetings. These include discussions on ending violence against women and girls, malaria eradication, and boosting immunization efforts across Africa.
He will also join President Ruto at the Climate Change Committee (CAHOSCC) meeting and support him in presenting a progress report on AU Institutional Reforms.
As the champion of these reforms, Ruto will update the Assembly on key developments.
