NHIF customers can now see their contribution statuses via their mobile phone through an SMS. It requires no internet, all thanks to technology.
While illness can come anytime, unannounced, National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) comes in handy to save the day.
The Government of Kenya initiated NHIF to help Kenyans pay for individual and dependent medical expenses during the time of illness. However, the patient member or the dependent pays a small fee of 500 every month.
Below a detailed step to check your status
- On your mobile phone app menu, click on the messaging icon.
- Compose a new message.
- Type ID, then space and then type your ID number number or passport number. For example; ID 1212345678.
- Send the text to 21101. Texting charges applies.
- You’ll immediately receive a text with the information about your NHOIF status account status together with your dependents.
This is a very easy way to find out about your account without taking time off your schedule to visit the NHIF offices.
