Gachagua is suffering from chest pain, admitted at Karen Hospital. Senate told.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s lead counsel, Paul Muite, has reported that his client is experiencing chest pains.

Speaking to the Senate shortly after Gachagua’s health issue arose, Muite stated that the Deputy President is currently hospitalized at Karen Hospital.

He also mentioned that Gachagua, who was expected to attend the Senate proceedings for questioning, will not be present as his doctors have recommended that he get complete rest.

“I was able to contact the doctors at Karen Hospital, where a team is currently attending to the Deputy President,” said Muite. “Due to his condition, I couldn’t speak to him directly, but the medical advice from his doctors was clear—he needs complete rest at the moment.”

Muite added, “I was informed by his doctors that he is experiencing severe chest pains, but I chose not to inquire further into his condition.”

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was scheduled to take the witness stand for cross-examination in his impeachment trial around 12:30 p.m., but his legal team informed the Senate that he had fallen ill and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Lead counsel Paul Muite requested the Senate Speaker to grant him time to assess Gachagua’s condition and promised to report back by 5:00 p.m.

However, the National Assembly’s counsel argued against the delay, urging the trial to continue without Gachagua, citing the time-sensitive nature of the proceedings.

When the session resumed at 5:00 p.m., Gachagua’s legal team reported that the Deputy President had been diagnosed with severe chest pains and had been admitted to Karen Hospital.
