DP Kindiki; economy is now stable, all stalled roads to be completed

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured the public that stalled road projects will resume and reach completion now that the government has allocated funds for their construction.

He emphasized that President William Ruto has successfully stabilized the economy over the past two years through key interventions.

As a result, financial resources are now available to support ongoing and stalled projects across the country.

Speaking during an inspection of various road projects in Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County, the Deputy President visited the construction sites of Endarasha-Charity-Gakanga-Embaringo-Kimunyuru, Mweiga-Amboni-Mbondeni-Ruiru-Karandi, Issac Camp-Mahiga-Sangare, Solio-Kabati-Gitegi, and Honi River-Wendiga Shopping Centre-Mairo Roads.

For the past six years, these roads had remained incomplete due to financial constraints. However, the Kenya Kwanza Administration has now allocated Ksh.2.3 billion to ensure their completion by August 2026.

“These roads have been stalled since 2019 because of financial challenges, leaving residents without proper infrastructure for six years. Today, I bring good news. With the economy now stabilized, we have secured the necessary funds to restart construction, not only here in Nyeri County but across the entire country,” Prof. Kindiki announced.

In total, the government is working on 12 road projects in Nyeri County, with most being revived after years of neglect due to budgetary limitations.

“We have allocated Ksh.17 billion for these 12 roads in Nyeri. Since the funds are now available, all of them will be completed. We will also closely monitor the progress of roads, market construction, and electricity connection projects to ensure swift completion so that citizens can benefit,” he added.

Thriving economy

Beyond infrastructure, the government is also expanding water projects, economic stimulus markets, last-mile electricity connections, and job creation initiatives under the Kazi kwa Ground, Kazi Mtandaoni, and Kazi Majuu programs.

“With a thriving economy, our focus has shifted to development and improving the lives of Kenyans. We are building 400 new markets nationwide, and I will personally inspect those in Nyeri. Once completed, the President will officially launch them,” he stated.

The Deputy President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to economic growth, problem-solving, and increasing incomes for millions of Kenyans. He stressed that this is not the time for political distractions.

“The President and his administration remain focused on finding solutions to the challenges Kenyans face. We have no interest in political battles. Instead, we are prioritizing the expansion of roads, water access, electricity, and job opportunities.

Engaging in political conflicts now would be irresponsible, as it would only disrupt service delivery and make life harder for our people,” he concluded.
