DP Kindiki condemns Kiambu chaos, calls For peace and unity

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has strongly criticized the recent chaos that erupted during a burial ceremony in Limuru, Kiambu County.

The incident, which took place in the presence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, highlighted the growing concern over political unrest.

Speaking on Sunday, December 2, 2024, at Gospel Outreach Church in Kyuso, Mwingi North, Kitui County, Kindiki called on leaders to prioritize peace and avoid inciting violence.

“We must protect this country from political violence. Politicians should not incite their supporters to cause violence at public gatherings,” he said.

The Deputy President emphasized the importance of unity and urged leaders to lead by example. He stated that political gatherings should promote harmony, not division, especially during sensitive occasions like funerals.

Corruption concerns

Turning his attention to corruption, Kindiki announced new measures to ensure transparency in government revenue collection.

He directed all taxes to be paid directly through the E-Citizen platform, urging counties to adopt similar systems. This move, he explained, would eliminate loopholes for corruption and enhance accountability.

Kindiki also addressed infrastructure development in Kitui County. He promised to push for the completion of the stalled Enziu Bridge, a project of national importance after a tragic accident claimed 33 lives.

More promises

Additionally, he committed to completing the long-delayed Kibwezi-Kitui Road and other key infrastructure projects in the region.

“The government is dedicated to serving all Kenyans equally,” Kindiki affirmed, emphasizing that development projects will not be limited to specific regions or political affiliations.
