All boda boda operators in Kenya have been given 60 days to register with National Transport and Safety Authority, (NTSA) starting 21st March, 2022
While issuing the President’s orders, CS Matiangi said, all bodaboda riders will undergo fresh vetting and upon completion with no mistakes, one will be awarded Smart Riders License from Huduma Centres and NTSA stressing that the registration will be free for the given 60 days and urged all the riders to seize the opportunity.
” You’ll be registered for free, hakuna maneno ya 5,800 (there isn’t 5,800 thing)” said Dr. Matiangi on his twit earlier today during a meeting with the security team and boda boda leaders. “We will do this exercise for 60 days consistently. Within those 60 days, please make sure you have a Smart Riders License” Added Dr. Matiangi.


After the registration period, all the regional Commissioner Must know the regional bodaboda leaders and are advised to hold meetings every month.
“From now on, my Ministry will now begin a formal recognition and engagement with boda boda across all structures of administration.” Cited Dr. Matiangi .
The boda boda riders came to the hook after after a video of boda boda riders sexually assaulted a woman, went viral.
According to Nairobi Police Commandant Joshua Omukata, the lady driver, hit a pedestrian and decided to flee in fear of the mob, an action that angered the rest of the boda boda riders who turned up aganist her and stripped her naked.
