Beatrice Chebet of Kenya secured a 1-2 victory alongside her compatriot Lilian Kasait in the women’s 5km race at the World Road Running Championships in Riga, Latvia.

Chebet, who is the World 5000m bronze medalist, clinched the gold medal and set a new championship record with a remarkable time of 14:35.
Kasait on her part, achieved a personal best of 14:39, earning her the silver medal. Ethiopia’s Taye settled for the bronze.
This victory marks the culmination of a highly successful season for Chebet, who previously won gold at the World Cross Country Championships in Bathurst, Australia, and secured a bronze medal at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary earlier in the year.
