Tragic fire claims lives of four-year-old twins in Kirinyaga.

Two four-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, lost their lives in a devastating house fire in Murinduko, Mwea East, Kirinyaga County.

The fire reduced their home to ashes, leaving the community in shock and grief with the twins burning beyond recognition.

The children had been left at home with their grandmother when the tragic incident occurred. Their mother was away, searching for a school where the twins could join a playgroup.

According to Murinduko Assistant Chief Patrick Njeru, the grandmother left the house around 3:00 p.m. to tend to the farm. While working, she heard a loud bang followed by thick smoke billowing from the house.

Neighbors quickly responded to the cries for help. They were greeted by the sight of flames and smoke engulfing the home.

Despite their desperate efforts to extinguish the fire and rescue the children, they were unable to save them.

Firefighters from Kirinyaga and Embu counties later arrived at the scene, but by then, the house was completely destroyed.

The tragic event has left the family and the community reeling. The twins were described as cheerful and energetic children who brought joy to everyone around them.

Police have therefore, launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire, which remains unknown. The authorities have urged caution and vigilance, especially when leaving children at home, to prevent similar tragedies.

As the family mourns this unimaginable loss, local leaders and residents have called for community support to help them cope with the aftermath of the incident.
