In Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County, authorities arrested two police officers, Chrispus Butali and Samwel Mbugua Njuguna, after they were caught slaughtering a cow.
This cow had earlier been reported missing at the Kaptagat Police Station. The shocking incident unfolded after a report filed by Josphine Kandie, who informed the police about her missing cows.
Later, Josphine received information suggesting that one of her cows had been slaughtered at the same station where she had reported the disappearance.

Acting on this tip, officers rushed to the scene and found Butali and Njuguna in the act of slaughtering the animal. Their arrest soon followed, sparking outrage among residents.
As the news spread, angry members of the public stormed Kaptagat Police Station, demanding justice and immediate action.
They called for the transfer of not only the implicated officers but also the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), blaming leadership at the station for the incident. Attempts by the police to pacify the crowd proved futile.
The situation escalated as furious residents barricaded the Eldama Ravine-Eldoret Road, paralyzing traffic and bringing the area to a standstill.
