President William Ruto has address recent criticism and warns against any digital disinformation by Kenyans
President Ruto who lately has faced criticism on social media, stated that he welcomes feedback and alternative ideas as long as they are factual.
“I have no problem with discourse, criticism, and alternative proposals. I listen to feedback to learn, improve, and do better,” he said.
Ruto, led the nation on Thursday in celebrating the 61st Jamhuri Day at Uhuru Gardens. Addressing delegates and citizens, he highlighted his government’s achievements in housing, healthcare, and digital transformation.
However, he condemned the spread of disinformation on digital platforms. Ruto warned against using technology to amplify fake news and distort facts, emphasizing the potential harm to freedom, democracy, and development.
“If we allow these negative trends to grow, we risk losing our unity and sabotaging our progress,” he added.
National goals
The President urged Kenyans to engage in truthful discourse, cautioning that negativity breeds division and undermines national goals.
He also defended his leadership, pointing to reduced living costs, increased agricultural productivity, and improved services through Taifa Care.
Criticizing persistent opposition to his initiatives, Ruto further, questioned how long cynics could deny visible progress.
“What will they say when we start handing over keys to affordable housing units in the coming weeks?” he asked.
On December 3, Ruto also criticized those opposing various projects, including housing, healthcare, and even church donations.
“There seems to be an evil spirit of opposing everything,” he remarked, expressing frustration with relentless opposition to his leadership style.
