Kiambu residents vandalized a new vehicle on Monday evening after its driver hit two people on the Ruaka-Ndenderu Highway.
An angry mob in Ruaka, Kiambu County, set fire to a luxurious Land Cruiser valued at over 20 million shillings on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred following a fatal accident involving the vehicle and two pedestrians.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Land Cruiser was speeding along the Ruaka-Ndenderu Road when he struck the pedestrians, who was crossing the street. The impact of the collision was so severe that the pedestrians died instantly.
Enraged by the loss of lifes, a crowd of residents quickly gathered at the scene of the accident. They expressed their anger bythrowing stones at the abandoned Land Cruiser and eventually set it on fire.
Police are investigating the incident and have appealed for witnesses to come forward and provide information, including any leads on the whereabouts of the driver.
