President William Ruto has instructed the Ministries of Transport and Energy to cancel ongoing agreements with the Adani Group involving key infrastructure projects in the energy and aviation sectors.
In his State of the Nation Address on Thursday, the president cited credible evidence from relevant investigative agencies as the basis for the decision.
“The ongoing deals with the Adani Group cannot proceed given the insurmountable evidence presented,” he stated.
President Ruto further, emphasized his commitment to addressing corruption, saying,
“In the face of undisputed evidence or credible information on corruption, I will not hesitate to act. Based on the findings from investigative agencies and partner nations, I direct the immediate cancellation of the JKIA PPP deal and the KETRACO deal by the procuring agencies within the Ministries of Transport and Energy.”

The decision therefore, follows reports that Gautam Adani, chairman of the Indian conglomerate, has been charged in the United States for allegedly paying Ksh.30 billion in bribes to secure solar energy contracts in India.
