Lectures begins their nationwide strike

Learning in all public universities nationwide has come to a halt after lecturers went on strike again on Tuesday.

The University Academic Staff Union (UASU) announced that their strike will continue until the government meets their demands outlined in the 2012-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Led by Secretary General Constantine Wasonga, the union urged the government to uphold the agreed-upon return-to-work formula, which includes various benefits to support their welfare.

The lecturers have pledged not to resume work until they receive their owed payments.

They placed sole blame on vice-chancellors, accusing them of persistently hindering efforts to improve their compensation over the years.

Wasonga emphasized that no lecturer will step into lecture halls to teach students.
