A 23-year-old trainee Catholic nun who went missing from Rongo Catholic Church on Thursday, October 24, has been found dead in a sewer pit within the Rongo parish sister convent.
Homa Bay Diocese Vicar General, Gabriel Atieno, stated that her body was discovered by one of the nuns heading to the farm, floating inside the sewer pit.
Following Yvonne Jirangwa’s disappearance, the sisters reported her missing at Rongo Police Station after a full day of unsuccessful efforts to locate her.
Her body was eventually found on the afternoon of Sunday, October 27.
Vicar General Gabriel Atieno noted that they have yet to determine the events leading to the death of the trainee nun, who had served in Rongo parish for three years.
