Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit, along with a multi-agency team stationed at Sabaki Bridge, have arrested a man suspected to be a notorious drug trafficker in Malindi.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the operation resulted in the seizure of 38 packages of heroin, with an estimated street value of Ksh.14,540,000.
The suspect, identified as Salim Peter Katana, was apprehended following a tip-off to law enforcement regarding his involvement in the drug trade.
Acting on this intelligence, officers conducted a raid on his hideout in Ngerenya, Kilifi County, where they discovered the heroin.
During the search, authorities found 3.635 kilograms of heroin hidden in one of Katana’s bedrooms.
In addition to the drugs, they also recovered Ksh.13,000, believed to be proceeds from his illegal activities.
Following his arrest, Katana was taken into custody at Malindi Police Station, where he awaits further legal proceedings. Police have confirmed that he will be charged with drug trafficking.
The DCI highlighted that these operations are part of a broader strategy to combat the criminal networks that jeopardize the safety and well-being of communities nationwide.
The agency continues to encourage the public to provide information that could assist in the fight against drug trafficking and related crimes.
