Seth Nyakio was killed on Monday, and her body was found at a rented house in Biafra, Thika, located in Kiambu County.
The murder of 23-year-old Seth is the latest tragic example of the severe violence against women in the country.
Her heartbroken mother recalls that the Zetech University graduate left their home in Kamakis on Saturday in high spirits.
The Mother said the two were in touch until Sunday when Seth became unreachable on her phone making the parents disturbed.
A search was launched but yielded no results. On Monday morning, the family received a troubling phone call from a friend, informing them that Seth had been killed.
When the police were alerted, they arrived to find the young woman’s lifeless, naked body
Preliminary investigations revealed that she had been strangled. Police reported that the assailant sexually assaulted the victim before carrying out the brutal act.
Investigators have focused on a male friend, who was upset after their relationship ended. It is suspected that the ex-boyfriend discovered her location, lured her, and ultimately killed her.
However, Seth’s parents have dismissed this theory, alleging that the friend she was visiting may have more information about what actually happened.
The friend has since recorded a statement with the police detectives.
