As videos and photos circulate online, long lines of vehicles remain stuck in heavy traffic along the busy highway. This has been the situation since this article was published.
Authorities have repeatedly warned drivers to use alternative routes. They have issued several advisories urging motorists to avoid the congested roads .
And take different paths to reach their destinations. However, despite these warnings, traffic continues to build up.

Many frustrated road users have turned to social media to express their anger and disappointment. Some have even joked about the situation.
One person pointed out that travelers heading from Naivasha to Nairobi were moving faster than those going from Naivasha to Nakuru—even though the distance to Nakuru is much shorter.
While Nairobi is about 100 kilometers from Naivasha, Nakuru is only 78 kilometers away. But due to the gridlock, the shorter route took even longer.
Some drivers had no choice but to spend the night on the road. One motorist shared his ordeal, explaining how he got stuck in traffic while returning to Nairobi.
He originally expected to reach his destination by 11 p.m., but the jam stretched his journey by four more hours. Exhausted, he finally arrived in Nairobi at 3 a.m.
Traffic police deployed
Despite these difficulties, the National Police Service (NPS) insisted that traffic officers had been deployed to manage the situation.
They assured the public that officers were stationed along the highway and other roads to help direct vehicles.
The massive traffic congestion was largely caused by the highly anticipated Safari Rally event, which kicked off on Thursday.

Excited spectators from all over Kenya, especially from Nairobi, flocked to Naivasha to witness the thrilling competition.
As the weekend approached, even more people rushed to the area, eager to catch the climax of the Safari rally.
By Sunday morning, the traffic had spread beyond the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. Crowds of rally fans scrambled to get to Hell’s Gate, eager to witness the final leg of the event.
As a result, Moi South Lake Road in Naivasha also became heavily congested.
Every year, the Safari Rally attracts thousands of spectators. Unfortunately, the event often brings similar traffic challenges, despite efforts by the National Police Service to manage the situation.
A day before the event, NPS had issued a warning to bus and lorry drivers. They were strictly instructed not to park along the Naivasha-Nakuru Road or create unnecessary obstructions.
Additionally, the police assured the public that they were working closely with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to maintain road safety and ensure compliance with traffic rules.
Still, despite all these measures, traffic chaos remained unavoidable as eager fans poured into Naivasha for the exciting motorsport event.
