KNEC has realeased the KPSEA exam timetable

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially released the timetable for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).

This assessment is a key component of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and signifies the completion of Grade 6 for students across the country.

KPSEA was introduced as part of Kenya’s transition to the CBC, which focuses on skill acquisition and practical knowledge rather than traditional exam-based learning.

The assessment measures learners’ competencies at the conclusion of their primary education (Grade 6), replacing the former system that culminated in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

KPSEA offers valuable feedback on students’ performance across various subjects, helping educators identify areas for improvement and ensuring the education system fosters a wide range of skills.

For the 2024 academic year, KPSEA exams will begin with a rehearsal on Friday, October 25, 2024. The main exams will take place from Monday, October 28, 2024, to Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Mathematics and English exams will be held on Monday, followed by Kiswahili, Integrated Science, and Sign Language tests on Tuesday. The KPSEA will conclude on Wednesday with Creative Arts and Social Studies exams.

KNEC provided clear instructions to supervisors, stating,

“The time allocated for each paper is indicated next to the paper’s name, and no additional time will be granted. The time for reading through the questions is included in the duration shown on the question paper, except where specific paper instructions indicate otherwise.”

Candidates are also prohibited from leaving the assessment room before the allocated time for the paper has ended, unless they have received special permission from the Supervisor.

KNEC further cautions candidates:

“Do not leave any written sheets or your answers in a position where another candidate can read them. You must not provide or receive unfair assistance, whether by copying or any other means, and your work should not indicate evidence of such unfair assistance.”

Candidates who commit any assessment irregularity in any paper will have their results for the entire subject cancelled.
