Authorities have launched investigations after criminals murdered a night guard outside a laundry shop in the Muthini area of Machakos Town.
The robbery took place on Monday when the attackers broke into the shop, stole valuables, and killed the guard before fleeing.

Residents suspect the guard put up a fight before his attackers overpowered him, as his body had multiple severe injuries.
Many locals expressed outrage over the rising insecurity, blaming security agencies for failing to crack down on criminal gangs operating in the area.
Ibrahim Kiiti, a concerned resident, warned that if the situation does not improve, frustrated locals might take matters into their own hands to protect themselves.
Peter Nzioka, another resident, urged authorities to act swiftly, saying, “It is heartbreaking that hardworking families struggle every day to make a living, only to be attacked by criminals.”
In response, Machakos DCIO Nzioka Singi reassured residents that security forces would intensify efforts to fight crime. He urged locals to report any suspects immediately, emphasizing that authorities would not rest until the area is safe.
Meanwhile, police transported the victim’s body to Machakos Level 5 Hospital Mortuary as investigations continue.
