Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has strongly urged President William Ruto’s administration to stop focusing on publicity and instead work on fulfilling its unkept promises.
He criticized the government for acting like an “advertising agency” instead of delivering on its commitments.

While speaking at a funeral in Webuye on Friday, Wamalwa reinforced the concerns raised by Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria.
He condemned the government for prioritizing public relations over tangible results. According to Wamalwa, the government spends too much time and resources promoting its projects instead of actually implementing them.
“It is clear that Ruto’s government excels in public relations. They spent six days in our region, and not long ago, Ruto launched a transformer right here in Webuye East. However, we haven’t even seen a post or a wire. The planes he used to travel here cost millions of shillings—more than the Ksh 50 million market he inaugurated. That’s why we are saying, stop this PR,” Wamalwa stated.
Wamalwa defended Archbishop Muheria
He also defended Archbishop Muheria, whose remarks about the government acting as an advertising agency sparked backlash from Ruto’s allies.
Wamalwa insisted that the Kenya Kwanza administration focuses more on image-building than on effective governance.
Moreover, the former Defense Cabinet Secretary called on the IEBC selection panel to speed up the formation of a new electoral body.
He stressed the importance of establishing a credible IEBC to oversee upcoming by-elections in various wards and constituencies.
“Now that Wafula Chebukati has left, we have a historic opportunity to create a better IEBC and bring in stronger leadership. This is our chance to improve the electoral system,” he added.
On Friday, Archbishop Muheria also urged President Ruto’s administration to fulfill its promises instead of prioritizing public relations.
“Talk less, do more
Speaking at Consolata Mathari Hospital, he accused the government of spending more time talking about its projects rather than executing them.
“We need fewer speeches and more action. The government should not function as an advertising agency; it should be an agency of implementation. That is what Kenyans want to see,” Muheria emphasized.
He further called on leaders to stop engaging in political attacks and unnecessary noise. “We need a government that follows laws and established systems, not one that diverts all its energy into self-promotion.
I wish we could put an end to these insults, loud rhetoric, and belittling statements. Instead, let’s focus on working together and respecting each other,” he added.
In response, President Ruto, his deputy Prof. Kithure Kindiki, and other government allies defended their approach.
They insisted that it is their duty to inform Kenyans about the numerous development projects they are implementing.
“We are committed to building a united and fair nation. We will continue updating Kenyans on our progress because that is our constitutional duty. It is not a mistake; it is our responsibility to communicate what we are doing to transform this country,” President Ruto stated during the burial service of Senate Speaker Amason Kingi’s father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa, in Magarini, Kilifi County.
