President William Ruto launched the Shuublow electrification project in Wajir East Constituency, Wajir County.
This important initiative, carried out by the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC), has brought electricity to 91 households.
Additionally, It has also connected Shuublow Mixed Secondary School and a local mosque to the power grid.

Speaking on Wednesday in Wajir, President Ruto announced an ambitious plan to expand electricity access even further.
He promised that his government will connect 20,000 more households to electricity over the next few years. This massive project will cost approximately Ksh. 3.6 billion.
Meanwhile, REREC is working hard to bring power to even more rural areas. The corporation’s CEO, Dr. Rose Mkalama, revealed that they are expanding access through the Kenya Off-grid Solar Access Project (KOSAP), which is funded by the World Bank.
As part of this effort, REREC is partnering with Kenya Power to build 120 solar-powered mini-grids. These mini-grids will provide electricity to 14 counties that currently lack access to the national grid.
Wajir County is among the areas set to benefit from this transformative initiative. The program, which is valued at 150 million US dollars, is expected to launch later this month.
